Mary Harrison's lodging house |
|
This is Mary Conrey Harrison's lodging house in Union Street in about 1942. She lived to be 100, and these are some of her family . Note the street gas lamp . Residents relates the tale about 'kicking' on the post to switch them on. If this did not work then they had a little ladder which they climbed up and re-lit the pilot light, or changed the mantle. Clare Evans is mother to Lilly and tells the tale how she got free Cinema tickets from Mr Grant. |
