Note the large house on the left hand side which is Dewsbury House, which was home to Pocklington philanthropist Mary Dewsberry who died in 1846, and is buried in the chancel of Pocklington church. The house subsequently became a young ladies' boarding & day-school continuing into the early 20th c. |
