This establishment was called Wembley Garage situated on the corner of Pocklington Lane and what is now Park Lane. The original proprietor was Matthew Ripley but that is Alan Ripley, his son, on the motor bike.

Wembley Garage is well remembered by those who were children at the time. Some bought sweets or got their first bicycle from here while others were forbidden to go near it (but went anyway!). Alan Ripley told stories, but only to the lads.
